What is DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)?

DHCP, or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol allows devices on IP networks to use services like NTP, DNS or TCP, and UDP-based communication protocols. A DHCP server assigns IP addresses to devices on the network, which allows them to communicate with other IP networks.
